Everyone's plan seems really to vary on coffee so definitely ask your surgeon. I personally abstained for nearly a year and actually never missed it. When I went to SBUX, I would order a skinny, vanilla steamer, which is just steamed nonfat milk with sugar free flavor so I never missed the coffee and still got to enjoy the experience of going out with friends.

I am allowed Decaf coffee only but I don't remember for how long.

I have one cup, but instead of it being completely empty calories I add GENEPRO Protein powder AND a spoonful of Fiber.

I just decided to give it up completely for 6 weeks. Now I'll drink half decafe/half regular if I'm feeling tired, maybe once a week. You don't miss it as much as you would think you would. I did have horrible headaches the first two weeks i went without. I would suggest quitting at least 2 weeks before surgery, you don't want headaches from caffeine withdrawal as your healing from surgery.

I was required to be off caffeine for three months post surgery. I went off it 6 months pre-surgery on my own. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I love a strong cup of hot tea and I basically lived on an iced tea drip. I drink Decaf of both now. I can "officially" have caffeine on 01/26/2017, but I am not sure that I will.

I was allowed coffee at 30 days post-op, heavily diluted with milk in the beginning and only one cup a day. I am now back up to 3 cups a day with a normal amount of Creamer.< /p>

My plan says Decaf coffee is OK.

I put one packet of the instant stuff into a shaker bottle along with a vanilla or caramel Premier Protein. I also make "ice cubes" from the shakes and dump a few in to keep it cool. Pretty good!

my plan didn't want caffeine for about 6 weeks post op and then when allowed, only one 8oz cup a day (the 8oz rule was more due to how acidic coffee is and risk of ulcers).

I waited 3 months and now have my one cup a day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
