Blessed74 2 Posted January 11, 2017 I wonder if any one is experiencing thin hair?. I was told before surgery that hair lost is one of the side effects. My hair is thinning and this is not funny. Has any one tried anything that has helped? I am great full with my weight lost at this point, hopefully still to loose more a little stalling but that's okay. Initial weight 200 lb, surgery date 10/10/16 current weight 157 so far. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App
Christina.Rose 287 Posted January 11, 2017 Here are the default answers I have seen on this site, kind of like the "best of hair loss question answer" list. 1. Hair loss typically starts month three 2. Increase your Protein and take Biotin 3. Be gentle with your hair, wash as needed minimally 4. Rogaine works but you have to keep using it 5. Nioxin is another option 6. Allegedly hair does grow back but your body is in shock from surgery and a level of malnutrition 7. Short hair cuts look fuller than long thin hair 8. Make sure you get all required Vitamins daily Thats what I can remember off hand. Oh, also "its worth it" is usually tacked on the hair comments somewhere. Good luck! JamieLogical 8,710 Posted January 11, 2017 There's not a ton you can do once the hair starts coming out. Just make sure you are getting your Protein and Vitamins in to ensure it's starts growing back ASAP. Also, brush/comb minimally. Don't wash it every day. Get it cut short so it's less obvious and new growth can "catch up" more quickly.

sleeved_nev 5 Posted January 11, 2017 I was sleeved on 12/12/2016 hair loss is one of my fears but I'll work through it. I've been taking Vitamins and Biotin months before I even started my research about the surgery because I've been growing my hair out natural for 5 1/2 years. I use hair prevention loss Shampoo and started rinsing my hair with black or green tea to possibly help with minimal hair shedding. I get in my Proteins and liquids and only style and wash weekly. I gave myself the best gift ever wouldn't change a thing. I look at it this way new body... new hair style it will grow back.
