mkurtz52 0 Posted January 11, 2017 I have multiple comorbid conditions (diabetes & sleep apnea) and requested my PCP refer me for Bariatric Surgery. I received the following response, ""you must have 1 or more comorbid conditions UNCONTROLLED despite maximal medical treatment: Htn, OSA, triglycerides >1000, lower extremity edema w ulceration, diabetes". Has anyone else been required to have UNCONTROLLED comorbid conditions? They want me to wait until I am covered by Medicare to send my referral. All help is appreciated. fordtmacrae 21 Posted January 11, 2017 It sounds like you may be approved easier with Kaiser Medicare than with what you currently have. Is that a possibility? I've got Kaiser and my comorbid conditions are controlled but I was approved right away. I've also got Medicare. Good luck. Hang in there.
