The tipping point occurred when my A1C went up, the endocrinologist added a new drug and increased another. I regained weight lost on a medically supervised diet and couldn't re-lose.

When I was admitted to the hospital with low oxygen and I was too heavy for the catscan machines. My doctor had to fight to get them to do it. I realized if I continued on the route I was on I was going to be so fat doctors wouldn't be able to treat me. They hardly were able to at my size then. I also had to go on oxygen because I was so fat it was pressing against my lungs.

I called the surgeon as soon as I was released from the hospital.

When I couldnt fit on a ride at an amusement park, when I couldnt walk 1 mile without feeling like I was going to pass out. Thats when I was 332 pounds but I am now 289, but not because of surgery, I did that on my own. I knew it was time to change. I am ready for surgery now!!

My FIL sent us to Paris last summer, and I was miserable the whole time. We walked like 8 miles a day and tried to see everything we could, but it was so painful. I pushed through, though- when am I ever going to get to Paris again? I remember walking back to the hotel along the Seine, on a beautiful evening with my wonderful husband, and just sobbing and limping the whole way. I'm only 42, but it was obvious it's all downhill from here. If I don't do something now, I'll be in a Jazzy in a few years. I don't want to live that way. I have to do something now while I still have a chance to lead a healthier life.

Majority of rollercoasters, tight fits in airplane seats - had to use an extender one time - I was embarrassed, getting yelled a really mean thing while minding my own business on the street by these two a*****e frat guys, sick of not having more affordable clothing options, wanting to fit better in my moms small compact car, wanting to skydive but being over the weight limit, wanting to ride a hot air balloon but probably over the weight limit (not sure), wanting to feel healthier, beter about myself, etc.

Reasons go on and on, one day I just said I'm ready. Contemplated wls for several years, went through the six month process once about three or four years ago and the doctors office I was going through flaked out on me but not the second time around this laster year! So glad I've had it done and have not regrets to date.

Falling through a rotten deck. It probably would have happened to anyone who had stepped on that board. But, it happened to the fat girl. At a party. And because my leg only went through one board I was stuck until someone ripped out the adjoining board. It was mortifying. Not to mention painful. I am actually still bruised on my calf and this happened at the beginning of September. Now I'm 2 weeks post op.

Rheumatologist discussing biologic treatment for my rheumatoid/psoriatic arthritis, and saying the VSG could help with the condition. I'd been on the fence about it for several years, and that tipped me right over.

When I was told that I was preety for a big girl , when I was too big to rid the rides at the amusement park with my boyfriend when I found out I had sleep apnea , when I found out I had techocardia, when I would order dishes takeout over 50 dollars and sit in my basement with the lights turned of in front of the tv and eat and binge and cry and that's when I knew i had to change my life

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
