They submitted my paperwork to Aetna on Friday, but after reading all these forums I am worried. From my 1st appointment to the last one I was up 4lbs. Nowhere did it say that I could not gain any weight during the process.

Now i'm pissed off because I am for sure going to be denied, but how was I supposed to know?

Its in the Aetna medical bulletin policies. It says "no net gain" which I'm guessing it what you had?

So originally I was worried that I would be denied because I gained weight throughout the three months.... NOPE!

I was just denied because they said my BMI was under 40 and I didn't have any comorbidities........which is 100% inaccurate! My paperwork clearly shows I have both hypertension and sleep Apnea. I mean, did they not even read the file before they denied me? Aetna is kind of a hot mess!

Now I have to wait for a peer-to-peer session to be scheduled, so I can find out if I will be approved it not. Fingers crossed!

I have Aetna, we are going to try submitting after 3 months. I don't really have any co-morbidities (and BMI <40), so depending on what Aetna says I will either 1) be approved, 2) retry for approval at 6 months, or 3) self-pay.

Ugh, Aetna denied me again. This is my 4th denial..... They want me to do the whole 90 day supervised thing diet over again.

I feel like I need to go and hit something.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
