britt_will_getsleeved17 0 Posted January 11, 2017 Thank you so much everyone! Does anyone have aetna POS? Or did their surgery with Emory bariatrics? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
hopekate 85 Posted January 11, 2017 I had to do a barium swallow test, which is when they found a small hiatial hernia. My endoscopy is scheduled for next week. Pretty sure these tests were ordered because I have GERD. These tests are not mentioned in my insurance requirements. I have Highmark BCBS. Kaylamh 144 Posted January 11, 2017 I had to do one, and it was super easy. They found a hiatal hernia so I'm glad they did it

SarahSleeve 170 Posted January 12, 2017 I didn't have to. I did an upper GI, that's it. Maybe if they had seen something on that they would have scheduled one, but nothing at this point. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
Jess1971 9 Posted January 12, 2017 My doctor requires it. It let's them know if you are a candidate for certain weight loss surgical procedures, it can show ulcers, let them see acid reflux, etc. Plus they do a biopsy. NCGURL 11 Posted January 12, 2017 My insurance (BCBS) required one, my surgeon did it himself. He did it as an outpatient procedure so it was easy!
FamilyGuyNJ 123 Posted January 12, 2017 I'm insured w/ Aetna POS. I'm 48. The doctor did not require it.
jjsasha 18 Posted January 12, 2017 My doctor requires it but my insurance does not. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
recreatingcate 132 Posted January 12, 2017 My insurance did not require it, but my surgeon & his practice did, and does, for everyone. My surgeon is the one who did my endoscopy. I had an endoscopy done four years ago and they would not allow me to submit that instead of doing it again.

trekker954 421 Posted January 12, 2017 Insurance didn't require it but my surgeon did. I think usually they do. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
Finding_Stacy 263 Posted January 12, 2017 I thought everyone had to do one too, but I was told today all I have left to do is an Iron test. My preop class is on February 6th (I can't believe this is finally happening!). But I did read somewhere that they do one during the surgery. If this is true with some or all surgeons, I don't know. steph56 32 Posted January 12, 2017 Part of the pre-op required by my surgeon. Had it yesterday. See him on Monday. Hope all OK and get a surgery date. Sent from my SM-N920I using the BariatricPal App
kaysc 14 Posted January 13, 2017 I started with one surgeon, and his office required that all patients have one. Then I moved (before having it done) and my new surgeon never said anything about getting one.
