Freezing....all the time!

Recommended Posts

OMG!! Thank Goodness I thought it was just me freezing my butt off all the time!!! Everyone at work thinks I am nuts that I have a space heater on all year round yeah even in the summer, but I guess we just have to readjust to a normal weight.

That's funny because I'm always hot and tend to start sweating for no reason. Looking forward to being always cold

I'm the same except I've lost most of my weight and I still feel like I have an eternal heater on. My surgeons nurse was joking saying that "OMG your gonna be feeling the cold soon enough!"...

OMG when????? Lol

I was cold before and am still cold!

Hoping to help-

Cuddl Duds/layers - http://www.cuddlduds.com I wear them as a base layer. Get mine at good old Walmart or Target. costco carries a brand called 32 degrees. Similar base layers, also good.

Electric mattress pad - nice and toasty.

Build muscle- supposed to help. Don't know for myself. Takes forever.

Anything merino wool. Can be pricey and special care needed. I have a cardigan someone gave me in a bag of clothes to help size down. I actually get toasty in it!

Good luck!

In Italy they say cold hands mean a warm heart. ;)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I've been maintaining at goal for 15+ months and I am STILL freezing all the time. I did not adapt to the loss of my insulation.

Went to bed in wool socks, a base layer shirt, a sweatshirt and fleece lined pants plus had the heater on! I'm 4 years out!

So to add to previous posts, layers are key. Gloves and hats make a huge difference when outside in the cold. I opted for a heated throw for my bed as opposed to a mattress pad- hubby is always hot so this is easier to keep just on me and it turns off automatically after an hour (and I'm usually asleep by then). I have a wardrobe of coats all different weights and I now own more cardigans than I could have ever imagined.

I'm cold all the time also. It doesn't help that it's really cold out. ☃

I'm in eastern Canada. Layered up with fleece pants, fuzzy socks, fuzzy throw blanket, a cat on my lap, space heater pumping in the living room, and I'm pretty sure I'm still going to lose my fingers to frostbite. Gah! I'm down 104 lbs and have turned into a human popsicle.

My thermostat has gone down too, but it's a bit of a relief, as before, I was overheating all the time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
