my new beginning 2016 13 Posted January 10, 2017 HI all so this is how i been feeling lately, about 2 1/2 months post op and so far I've had good and bad days but I'm finally doing better & it's what my body wants, although my nutritionist would like me to stay away from carbs I've figured out one small portion of carb a day keeps nausea and vomiting away. I like to have 1 plan slice of white toast or a small portion of boiled potato and for Protein shredded chicken or cook shrimp sits well in my stomach. I'm not kicking myself in the ass for eating starchy food but glad I'm feeling better and no more vomiting. Gatorade is also my favorite for Fluid intake. That's "post-op"
Brandeis 401 Posted January 10, 2017 my NUT actually suggested that I do SOME carbs. One suggestion was to go for whole grain wheat thins, to eat with some cheese. carbs aren't inherently evil, is the thing -- they just don't have much [if any] Protein, and so they should be secondary to hitting your protein goals. my new beginning 2016 13 Posted January 10, 2017 Yes my NUT did suggest adding a Protein to my toast and or potato I've done that as well I also learned that burning sugar off is a lot easier than salt. For some reason my body doesn't do well with salt anymore period. Thanks for your response
Brandeis 401 Posted January 10, 2017 Well, the deal with salt is that it makes you retain Water -- so you've got all this excess water weight, which is just FLOATIN AROUND INSIDE OF YOU. It's something you'll probably lose if you cut down on salt [and I mean, lose it practically overnight]. (:
LittleLizzieLilliput 919 Posted January 10, 2017 I didn't do well when I cut out all carbs. not only physically was it difficult, but emotionally as well. My doc and nutritionist said I absolutely SHOULD have carbs, but make them complex not simple. Potato good, bread bad. lol!

I've notice the difference before and after surgery I don't do much of salt at all since surgery.
