Bad heartburn

Hi Iv had my band 1 year now and have lost 4 st so far I haven't had a fill for about 2 months now but I'm getting really bad heartburn in the day not the night ? Also I have started having a funny cough about halfway through my meal or dink ? I do struggle with food but I think it is my own fault as I still forget to wait between mouthfuls etc is the heartburn down to band slip or could this just be down to food /drink ? Surely I would have other symptoms any advise would be great
