QueenOfTheTamazons 634 Posted January 10, 2017 The first week I tried a bite of ice cream. I was having a hard time getting anything down and I thought a bite of ice cream might be soothing on my stomach. I took one bite , and cried because it tasted so nasty to me. A comfort food was no longer comfortable. I haven't had it since. HW 385 SW 359 CW 305 Sleeved 10/5/16 1 April76 reacted to this
nicole1171 5 Posted January 10, 2017 I literally took one bite, i let it completely melt in my mouth and then swallowed it, it went down fine, no pain after and it tasted normal. I was okay with the one bite, and then I figured I'll just stick to surgery free popsicles since those are on my list provided by my physician. erica_ozzy73 241 Posted January 10, 2017 Christ I wish I hated the taste of it after the sleeve... nothing tastes different to me at all. So disappointing lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 1 NJRangergirl reacted to this
mrsNilla 304 Posted January 10, 2017 Just saying, sugar free is not fat free. And the sugar free part was explained so well by @clc9. I would stick to the surgeons prescribed diet. He/she has a lot more experience and the post-op diet is meant to help us heal, not to be an inconvenience. Have some jell-o if it's on your diet for this stage and try to learn how to read labels. That will increase your chances of success hugely. Nilla
gonefromhere 32 Posted January 10, 2017 @@nicole1171 I got some of those yogurt tubes (Chobani has less sugar than Go-gurt, look at the labels) and stuck them in my freezer. They turn into creamy popsicles. I've also put regular yogurt into ice cube trays and frozen them. Then I'll pop out one or two and blend it with some unfrozen yogurt and Protein powder. It's more tart than ice cream, but if you want cold and creamy it'll hit the spot.
Queen_Bee 37 Posted January 10, 2017 My plan allowed sugar free pudding during the liquid stage, so I made some homemade Jello pudding pops in the freezer. You can add Protein powder in too, if you need it. Also, one sugar free fudgesicle is around 9 carbs if you're looking for easy. Thick2Thin2016 63 Posted January 11, 2017 If you are on full liquids why not freeze a Protein Shake and eat that?
nicole1171 5 Posted January 11, 2017 Protein shakes make me gag right now, I have to force them down, so I can't imagine just sucking on them with that taste lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Keke288 9 Posted January 12, 2017 People here with lots more experience. I had my first day of full liquids in the hospital and they sent me fat free sugar free ice cream. I didn't eat it but seems it was allowed. I'd suggest a popsicle if you're craving something cold.
Lynn1/3 18 Posted January 8, 2018 I am 5 days post op and doing liquids only. Are you sure they're not pains from surgery or gas? Lol. I am not hungry at all perhaps having liquids is getting boring but not hungry.

I had a value-sized soft serve from Sonic on Saturday (which was day 18) and it went down fine, I just ate it slowly. What would probably seriously mess you up would be ice cream with a filling, like Cookies and cream or one with Peanut Butter cups in it.
TakingABreak 2,733 Posted January 8, 2018 I would steer clear of ice cream, but if you must, then I would def do Halo Top brand!
VSG_Meow_Bitch 30 Posted January 9, 2018 I had a whole pint of regular vanilla Hagendas (spelling?) when i was 2 weeks post op. It was Christmas and I wanted it. I ate it slowly and didnt get sick at all. It was lovely. 1 abefroman329 reacted to this
