Cannot believe that 3 weeks from today I will be joining many on the losers bench . I started my journey in July 6th 2016 at the seminar and these six months just went by so quick. I can recall saying to mself the first day of my appt after the seminar on Aug 12th after I got my surgery date that these six months are going to drag b/c I was anxious, nervous and more so just excited about this life change to be and look now I have 21 days left . I have learn so much during my appts , weight loss management classes and being involved in these support groups as well as having the greatest support system from my bosses, family, church family , my three cousins who had the surgery and lastly a close knit circle of friends . I feel so blessed b/c although im not morbidly obese I am considered obese but with my health issues I have I know I will get past it and will be a healthier new me for 2017 and beyond.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
