Bypass2017 1 Posted January 9, 2017 I'm almost 3 weeks post op. I've had soft stools and diarrhea up until yesterday. Now I'm horribly constipated and stopped up. Gross but I know its there. Milk of Mag,stool softeners,Miralax..nothing. Finally got a glycerin suppository and got SOME relief but can tell there's more. Id rather of gave birth again. Is this normal?? I'm still on soft pureed foods. No meat.
catwoman7 11,220 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) yep. Almost everyone (except DS'ers) deals with chronic Constipation. Figure out what works for you - or what combo of things works for you - and keep on top of it. You don't want to end up in the ER totally backed up... danaymacklin 177 Posted January 9, 2017 Yes went through the same thing it was horrible Constipation, so I feel you! I had to do double duty on the items you listed for relief. Consult your doctor. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Pazza 199 Posted January 9, 2017 Totally normal. A daily dose of Miralax and lots of exercise is my solution. Nice and gentle. I know other people who like Smooth Move tea or combo pill laxatives and stool softner. Good luck!
GmaDiana 81 Posted January 9, 2017 This is normal until you can eat more different foods. If you had diarrhea,it would take a while before you have to go again.Just take stool softeners and Miralax everyday for a while.

I still struggle with it at almost two years out - a lot of us do. It's certainly better now that I can eat more Fiber, but I still have to keep on top of it all the time. Vinasu 621 Posted January 9, 2017 Don't strain. I gave myself hemorrhoids for the first time ever, and it was miserable. If it gets impacted, get an enema. It's gross, but not as bad as the alternative. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
