JodiT140 34 Posted January 8, 2017 It's really up to you and your surgeon. Mine doesn't want her patents to work out until 6 weeks after my surgery. I spoke with her last week and let her know that I feel great. However she doesn't want me to push myself too hard. So no go for me until February. Babbs 14,681 Posted January 8, 2017 Like, immediately? They encourage you to walk. Walking is good. It helps with the gas pain, keeps clots from forming, and helps with healing.
slvarltx 332 Posted January 9, 2017 Right on babbs! Walk like crazy! No running yet, but the more you walk the faster you recover...move the blood Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Vinasu 621 Posted January 9, 2017 My Dr. wanted me to walk 15 minutes day 1, and to increase it five minutes a day until I was at an hour. At 6 weeks, I began cardio and strength training. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
Brandeis 401 Posted January 10, 2017 I could do treadmill after the first week, but they didn't want me doing any core exercises or using the bike until 6 weeks out~ I do advise starting SLOW, though. After 15 min on the treadmill, that first time post surgery, I almost passed out when I got off. Up until then I'd easily been doing like 5 miles on the bike... Fredbear 397 Posted January 11, 2017 I was on the treadmill on day 5. It's just walking, not working out. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. "
