BOoBOo you're doing a great job and you're quite an inspiration for us all! Congratulations! Don't let your doc spoil you that well deserved victory!

If you're healthy and you're feeling well, all is well. Keep working out as you normally do, that will help your muscles to stay fit&firm and chase away body fat. Of course we are supposed to work out, where on earth did your doctor heard that we shouldn't??? just don't overdo it and pay attention if you are eating adequatly to what you do on your daily routine.

Well done!

Boo Boo, see Wagner. He's really freaking laid back. Except he likes to take photos..... :waytogo:

I haven't been back since my one week post-op visit to get my staples out (almost 13 weeks). They haven't called me, either. Think I should go see them to say hello?

Yep....if you are flouro'd and the barium goes through easily, there's not much room for arguement. When it happened to me they all just shrugged and filled me up!

Boo Boo, I think you are a classic case of "Results Not Typical". And no, they are probably NOT used to seeing such a success story as you. He should be thrilled because you are a classic advertisement for the band!!! He should be applauding you and showing you around to his prospective patients! Some people just don't know a good thing when they see it!

I am routinely baffled by the arrogrance of doctors. I have had to explain to more than one over the years that, while I value their expertise in the same way that I value the expertise of any subject matter expert whom I employ, in the end, our relationship is that they are my employee and I am their employer.

I rely on them to provide me with information and to help me interpret that information. I will usually ask them for a recommendation, but any actionable decision is mine, not theirs. If they cannot handle that relationship, then I will find a more capable physician who can.

If he can't grasp this basic concept, tell him to go jump in a lake.

My guess would be that it is a classic case of CYA---Cover Your Ass. If he ignores someone who is losing due to malnutrition etc, and does nothing, then they may very well turn around and file suit on him. If he checks you out head to toe, and convinces himself and covers it all---then he can defend himself if ever necessary. It is a shame we have become such a litigious society....but at the same time, when they DO do something wrong, we deserve the right to make them admit it, and so forth.....

Just get an "I'll show him" attitude, and go with it.

You also have people like my SIL who is not truthful with our fill Dr. or the surgeon. She lies about not throwing up, she lies about what she can and cannot eat. Has gone so far now, as to have a family member unfill her at home!!!

It is annoying as hell when Dr.'s do not take us at our word, and are not seeming to understand that we are just working our program, and doing our best...but some patients ruin it, or make it hard for the rest of us. I am afraid anytime you find a Dr. concerned both for his patients, and himself---you might get these actions occasionally. It is easier on him to document your progress, run some tests, etc. than to later defend himself in court. Sucks, but it is a fact of life these days.

You have done an awesome job---go show him how a real bandster does it!!!!

Yeah Faith, I think you are right. He did assist with me so it wouldn't be like I would be stepping out of bounds...

And they will NEVER call you Faith, they have too many paitents to manage. I think they are more of the "Call us when you need us" type there.

:help: Boo Boo - you have done a great job so I wouldn't worry about the negative stuff the doctor said. You know your own body and know how you feel. Obviously all the exercise has really helped. If you don't mind would you tell me some of your " favorite" things to eat? I am 6 months out and always looking for new meal ideas. Anyone else please feel free to add any help you can ! Thanks very much !

Wheestin how much more do you have to loose? I thought you look great and were already done!
Well, going by the BMI/ideal weight at my surgeon's office, I have 45 - 55 lbs to go. Looking at my body it seems like a lot more than that, but I'm not good at the whole spatial relationship thing.

I went shopping yesterday and picked up 14/16 tops and "2" bottoms (Lane Bryant has a new sizing system). I'm 1 - 2 sizes bigger on bottom than top b/c of my hips. I wanted to get to 14/16 - on bottom too. :car:

I have not read all the posts but I skimmed thru them so forgive me if this was covered. But It sounds like your doctor needs to be more involved in your care. Even if your seeing a PA he still needs to over see the care of his patients, why after almost a yr you said ? Or the first fill is he just NOW going through your chart and looking over your progress ? That should be done after EVERY Visit even if its done w/ a PA . A PA is just that an ASSISTANT to the Physician NOT A physician , therefore the MD still has to over see your care.
Had he done that he would have seen your progress as it progressed and what you have been doing all along and it might not have seemed so drastic to him ? . I think maybe you need too make a point to maybe SEE the doctor every visit even if you see a PA and at least take a few mintues to speak to him , even if you cant do a whole visit w/ him or do every other visit with him so hes involved with your care a little more.

Just my input

Mindy

PS I also wanted to tell you that you are doing a wonderful job and you should not let your doc or anyone else make you feel bad for the wonderful progress you have made ! Keep up the great work .

If your tests show you are well, you feel well and you like what you are doing, to heck with that doc. Your know yourself better than anyone else. If you are doing everything by the book then you should be proud. I am only post-op 5 days and have already been working out on the treadmill and actually post op day 3 and 4, my husband and I had a garage sale. Do what feels right for you and don't let the medical professionals bring you down. You are only 18 pounds to your goal and that has got to be simply amazing. I can't wait!!! You go for it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
