Anyone else feel DISCOURAGE

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved one 12/12, and last night my boyfriend was trying to take me out and get me out the house. But when I put on my clothes and they all for the same, and I didnt like hiw I looked so I opt to stay home and just go to sleep. I know it's not going to happen over night, but I don't see what everyone else sees and it makes ME angry.

Patience, grasshopper.

Also, don't forget you're going to be very emotional these first few weeks because the quick weight loss causes hormone dumps. That should subside soon, and you'll start to feel much better and much more optimistic when it does.

Take your measurements! I gaurantee there's a difference. Even a week from now there will be. Also, I'll bet a selfie from before surgery and a selfie now would most definitely show a difference.

I'm not sure what's making you feel unhappy, but I think it's that you have lost weight, but don't see it when you look in the mirror? It's very common for people who lose weight not to see the difference. Extremely common, actually. You didn't say how much you have lost, but I know that one of these days it will bowl you over. When all of your clothes are falling off or you realize that you can move your body in ways that you couldn't before and a million other ways. They're all called Non-scale Victories (NSV's) -- the wonderful changes that are separate from the scale.< /p>

What I am sure of is that you used to go out with your boyfriend before surgery. Go today. Of course you want to see the difference from losing weight, but life is NOW, not 10 or 50 pounds from now.

Nikki, do you know that your responses to @@Babbs and me sound calmer and even more upbeat than your opening post? It makes a tremendous difference to look at what you have achieved and not what you don't see yet. Your 23- pound loss is excellent. Let that be your motivation to keep going. Everything will fall into place.

Babbs, I love the "Patience, grasshopper."

You will never look like you lost weight if you the same clothes. So many people complain about looking/feeling fat, but they are in fat clothes, of course that is how they feel. New you, new clothes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
