After how much time ....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

This is a post for ask some information for the sleeved ones

AFTER HOW MANY DAYS "Normal Life" starts?

I'm going to be sleeved in February in my country

Is long time that I don't see my family and friend so I also wish to have some time with the not being in a bed as a "sick" person

I will be there for 5 weeks so I wish to know what to wait

With family and friends all the plans will be quiet and I will be able to eat exactly what doctor will say

Our plans will be like take a walk on the beach, spend a day in the boat, walk around the city etc...

Any advises?

Angelica,

I am not sleeved, but I can tell you that in the first few days after you leave the hospital, you will want to stay close to home. You will see that you can go out for a little walk, but do go back in when you start to feel tired or uncomfortable. The good news is that, because you will be in your country for five weeks, you will have good time to enjoy being with your family and friends. You won't want to run and jump and climb mountains, but you will be able to get around. You shouldl not be a "sick" person in bed. It is important to remember that each person heals and regains strength at her own pace, so be patient with your own recovery. I hope it is fast so that you can have the most pleasure in seeing the people you love.

I never felt like a sick person in bed. In fact, it is important to move around as soon as you can. I remember taking a lot of naps the first few day and walking in between. By day 4 I began a kitchen remodel which wasn't fun but the timing wasn't something I could easily change. I made it thru by leaving home in the morning and going somewhere, picking up Soup for lunch and having it in bedroom before a nap.my time being out increased each day.

Hope all goes well for you!

I mostly slept the first 4 days because of anesthesia and narcotic pain meds. I got off narcotics as fast as I could. After that I did daily outings. When my core starts to feel fatigued to take a break. Yesterday I went to a concert in Seattle. Today I even went shopping at the mall. I plan my food, Protein and Water carefully so I don't find myself out with nothing to fuel me.

I am 12 days post op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
