Hello,

I can relate to you as well. When I tell people my weight, they are shocked because I 'carry it in the right places' or 'wear it well'. My waist is smaller than my chest or bottom. However, it doesn't make carrying around this extra weight okay and it doesn't make being 100 lbs overweight okay!!

I've told both parents, my aunt (who will be taking care of me) my team (who I manage and it will become obvious to them, and my sister. When I told my sister, I got a horrible, awful reaction. So I've told a good amount of people, but I'm not telling any more. I'm not telling a soul on my Facebook. When people mention my weight loss, I may (at that time) decide to say something, but who knows!!

The only bonus I can see in sharing is that by sharing our experiences, we may motivate others who would otherwise be too scared to try.

I didn't tell anyone about my surgery. Only my husband and daughter know. Of all people my preop nurse worked with my husband prn at his job lol but she's not telling. I chose to keep mine a secret because I didn't want anyone's opinion or gossip about my life. No friends no family... I told my director I needed surgery... she only asked me was I going to be okay. It's between me and Human Resources about how long and why. Been yo yo dieting for years to end back at 250lbs. Had open heart surgery last year as a result of aortic dissection I needed a drastic change. Nobody's business unless I choose it to be.

My husband knows, my mom (who had lap band 6 years ago) and 1 close friend. I'm a stay at home mom, so I don't have to worry about the workplace dilemma, and my husband works from home, so he'll be here to support me. As far as for me, It's Nobody else's business.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
