Do any of the doctors have an issue with Muscle Milk brand Proteins?

My nutritionist had muscle milk on the list of shakes I was allowed, I did fine with them pre-op, but post-op I can't tolerate them, they are just too sweet for me

Does it cause dumping syndrome?

I've never had that issue, but I also try to stay within my diet plan.

2.5 years out. I made home made chili and cornbread last night. That is about a 1/2 cup portion in the little bowl, and just a sliver of cornbread. The second picture was what I could eat. If it's dense Protein, 1/2 cup is about all I can do with a couple bites of veggies or a starch (which I don't do very often). I've been maintaining my weight for over a year now. I would say I hit my max capacity at around a year post op, and it hasn't changed.

I make keto/low carb chili, and it just has meat, seasoning and diced tomatoes. I can eat 6 ounces at a time, had some for lunch.

Some asked this exact same Quest like a week or 2 ago and people, including myself, posted pictures. Search for that thread. I posted my 5.5 ounce pork chop.

I can eat a whole dinner salad at most restaurants, the Protein is only 2-3 ounces and the salad greens are sliders to me so I can pretty much eat unlimited.

Its kind of silly that Im even concerned about eating much less food..But I guess after having an abusive and toxic relationship with food for the past 40 years, Im curious what my future holds. From the looks of it most of you are just eating normal portions. This has been my biggest issue all of my life, portion control... I actually eat fairly decent 80% of the time, I just eat too much and then when I eat the junk food it pushes me over the edge.

I think this surgery is EXACTLY what I have needed my whole life, as my body does not allow me to stick to a decent diet.

Does anyone eat Baby food during the Puree phase?

No never. Totally unnecessary.

I was sleeved 12/19. I was hesitant until the moment the wheeled me back to the OR. At this point I want life and health more than food so I am committed. I'm still on soft foods. But tonight I had 1oz taco meat & 1.5oz guacamole with a little shredded cheese. All days consist of 2 Premier Protein shakes, usually a soft boiled egg, Jif2go cup or hummus. I'm still figuring it out BUT you must come join us & live your best life.

@@JerseyJules - I applaud you in researching this up front. When I was considering it, I read blog posts, watched videos of real patients, and tried to figure out all the worst case scenarios. I wanted to figure out who failed and why. And I had to wrap my mind around what I was going to eat since I am a foodie.

What I figured out was those who failed kept eating the same crap they were eating before, albeit in smaller servings. It is vital you follow the instructions, and most of the worst cases were people who would not FTDI (follow the damn instructions) but the great news is after the first month you slowly add in new foods and test to see what you can tolerate. I can eat everything I used to...but I can now afford the really expensive cuts of meat because I only need 4oz.

So I'm not including pictures because it would be everything. But I would suggest testing which Protein powders you like in advance. You will need them. Try Isopure Clear (you can pick them up at GNC). Not to everyone's taste but I loved the green tea formula, which was 40g of Protein plus hydration, and I could do it during my clear liquid phase which was great. Two of those a day kept my energy level high all the time. It was so good that I had my surgery on a Tuesday, and by Saturday I went to an OU football game with my son. So keep poking around until you have your head wrapped around this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
