Anyone else have a low hanging apron belly? I have always held most of my weight in belly but as u lose my apron is still hanging and maybe getting lower to... I just want to be able to wear something other then leggings eventually. But my apron is really bothersome. Someone tell me this can get better and it starts to flatten out! I am still only 2 months post op total loss of 53 lbs.

I am not sure how much weight you have to lose. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if it is a lot it is likely that your apron will only continue to drop.

When I started this process I never thought I would consider having plastics and that I would be simply happy with the weight loss all by itself.

For me, I lost 152lbs which is nearly what I weigh now.

I call it the mudslide that happens when there is extreme weight loss.

So, in July I happily met with plastic surgeons and decided I would need to do something. The mudslide has actually made my back issues that I had before surgery worse. So I started with a arm lift in July and was amazed at how much it helped my neck which is fused at 3 levels. Not to mention I got outstanding results cosmetically.

In 12 days I will have a full abdominalplasty and breast lift because they are not where god intended them. I am doing this to get rid of all that loose skin and am actually hoping I get some relief on my low and mid back. My lumbar is also fused but most of my back pain is in my mid back.

I guess I found that my journey wasn't complete simply after the weight loss. I simply gained a lot of confidence which not only fixed my inside but made me want to enter the second part of my journey which was getting rid of the loose skin.

How much loose skin you end up with all depends on things like: how much you have to lose, genetics, age.

I am guessing if you have gone through WLS chances are you have a considerable amount to lose?

Best of luck to you as you continue your journey.

Ahh yes I figured this would be the case. And like you I assumed the weight loss its self was enough but as my skin becomes looser I am really not that happy with it.

I'm 26 and I started at 318 I'm currently 266 and my goal set by my NUT was 180. So still a way to go.

You may have a little bit better outcome because of your age. Your skin may have more elasticity. That being said, it can also be genetics and of course how much you have to lose.

But, I am guessing if you are already dropping, it will continue to do so. Also you do need to give it some time to bounce back.

Congratulations on your weight loss! I am a bit older (53) and I have had a lot of comorbitities and I feel fantastic! I always say my only regret is not doing this much sooner. You are nice and young, I am guessing you are already feeling pretty great.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to be that young again. LOL I have a 13 year old granddaughter who is trying to grow up so fast. She stopped playing with toys at 7 and is quite the diva. She acts like she is in her twenties and I am always telling her to slow her roll. She is in such a hurry to grow up, then again I think I was like that at her age too.

Thank you:) I hope I do but it I don't then u guess it is fixable if it's a big problem.

Lol I don't feel young I have 2 kids that keep me so busy I forget what it's like to not have them haha what's quiet?

I'm glad to hear you feel great I am already starting to notice I feel better and can get around much better too! It definitely is a positive life change for me. Knock on wood no complications so far and feeling so grateful!

Did your insurance pay for the plastics?

Not a dime. I actually took on a pretty major project to make enough to pay for both surgeries. I am still not quite there but close and they have a care credit program with 0 percent interest.

It is difficult to get insurance to pay for any plastics. For some insurance companies they won't even consider it but for some if you have lots of documentation from the doctor on infections caused then you might get the panni removal covered. At least that is something, the rest we are pretty much on our own.

I am in Milwaukee WI so it is a bit less expensive than if you go to NY or CA.

I paid 6500.00 for my arm lift and 17,200.00 for my abdominalplasty and breast lift with augmentation.

That is as far as I can go for a while and honestly it may be all that I do. Plastics is not fun. Instant gratification but painful. My bypass was a walk in the part in comparison.

Weight loss is about losing fat. Alas, the skin doesn't go with it. Now you know first-hand. I've never heard of the misconception before and hope that anyone who shares it with y'all comes by to read this topic.

Khuuxo, I hope you find the way to what you want.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
