TellyUSA 0 Posted January 7, 2017 Does anyone here have any store-bought Soup recommendations preferably high in Protein & low in sodium/carbs? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted January 7, 2017 @@TellyUSA I looked, does not exist. They are all high carb or highish carb and low in Protein. Your best option is to buy stock or broth and add unflavored Protein powder. Alternatively you can buy a lowish carb Soup (good luck finding one) and add Protein Powder to it. Almost all commercial Soups are going to use a flour thickener or something else. The carbs are high and the Protein is low. Most Soups you buy are really trash foods, but that is another topic. talkingmountain 83 Posted January 7, 2017 Split pea Soup is high in Protein. It's pretty much all I ate during the first week or so post-surgery. I don't know any canned Soups that are low in salt but there might be a reduced-sodium split pea soup available. Don't worry about the relatively high carb count: its mostly Fiber and some complex starches, both of which are good for you, gently on the stomach, and very satisfying. Just read the ingredients to make sure there are no added sugars or added oils (I didn't see any with added sugars, but you might have access to different brands). Some brands have chunks of ham, so watch out for them and pick out the ham before eating; Ham does not agree with a newly post-surgery tummy!
NoMoreFatFA 16 Posted January 7, 2017 Bone broth is really good for you! As far as a little but if something warm, Trader Joe's has low sodium choices that are yummy. You could add some Greek yogurt to it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
