One of these things is not like the other...

I had a minor close call today, which would have been not much more than really annoying, but annoying and a waste of time all the same. I did dodge the bullet at the very last second though. In the attached picture, you can see two bags. One is slightly smaller than the other, but they are both about the same shape, and coincidentally, weight. One is my camera bag, which is stuffed full of camera gear for hobby/semi pro work. The other is a backpack Mrs. LittleBill gave me and which is stuffed with my gym clothes.

I was running around the house, trying to get out the door with a bunch of little stuff to do before I did. I was in a hurry, and kept forgetting this little thing, or that, and had picked up and put down my backpack with my gym clothes several times. Finally, all was in order, and I was running out the door. I grabbed my bag, opened the door, turned to check the lock, and had a surreal experience. I stood there holding my gym bag, while looking at it sitting on the dining room floor 10 feet away. It really messed with my head for a few seconds. Then I looked down and realized I had come very close to walking out the door with my CAMERA BAG.

It would have been pics and it didn't happen if I had gotten 10 miles down the road to the gym and then noticed the problem. As it was, I was able to rescue the situation with very little effort, but with the realization I almost did a really embarrassing thing. Of course, if I had, I probably wouldn't post about it - at least not for a few months, anyway. ;-)

Well, at least you got thru it all. Just think if you would have taken your camera bag and not your exercise bag, you could have taken pictures of the exercise equipment to share here in your posts. Or pictures of your trip might be interesting. Great post. Makes us realize we all are human!!

Thank you. If I tried to take pictures though, I might have been exposed for being negative. They might have said unprintable things ;-)

Now wait now....I am the negative one.

Love your story. Of course I started by immediately looking at the picture and knew what was going to happen so I chuckled out loud through your story.

@@Djmohr Well like I wrote, I dodged a bullet here. But there have been times when actual bullets have been involved, like when I get to the range and find out I forgot the magazines for a particular firearm, or I have ones that are close but no cigar...

I do things like this all the time. I swear i am getting senile and I am way too young for that.

I am a born organizer. I spent my entire career in roles where this completely played to my strengths. I worked for a company for 25 years and nearly 3 years ago i got laid off.

Anyway...suddenly I cannot organize anything. Its like my gift completely flew out the window. I am the family travel arranger. In the last two years I have booked the wrong flights multiple times, setting them up on the wrong days.

Or I booked a hotel in Hawaii and had the taxi driver take us to the wrong hotel on the other side of the island. LOL.

I did the same thing in San Francisco and prepaid the hotel through expedia. Well.....I ended up booked us at a downtown hotel when we needed to be at the airport by 6am. Ha.......

Now, my husband approves all travel arrangements.

Senility....i tell ya!

Lol....I can imagine the horror of getting into the mens locker room unloading all your camera gear.....the horror of the naked men in the locker room, of course!

Dub, this dish is great! We had one similar to it for a while, but it was too hard to get inside the bottle to clean it. I can fit my giant paw inside this one. Mrs. LittleBill bought it at PetCo or PetSmart - one of those chain places.

It is not a pretty sight, that's for sure. I think if anyone saw me open a bag of cameras, they would rise up, band together, and stuff me into a locker before I even got a chance to explain myself. :o

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
