Food didn't agree with me

Recommended Posts

Okay so I had something on Wednesday that didn't agree with me. Today's Friday, and I'm still really sick from it. I'm not able to get my Protein or fluids in because it makes me so sick and I'm running to the bathroom. I've talked with my surgeons office and they're not concerned but I really didn't think I would still be sick from it. Plus I'm extremely gassy (burps) from it. Has anyone else experienced staying sick for multiple days because a couple bites of something didn't agree with them?

Ugh I hate that you're dealing with the same thing. It has me so upset. I feel like it's such a set back :( are you vomiting or anything? I feel super gassy like I did after surgery but can't seem to burp it out.

Ahhhh... Curry has A LOT of fat in it. I dump with high fat foods and super rich sweet foods. I feel like crap until I vomit, Water poo, or a few hours passes. I'm going to guess that you are doing something similar to dumping.

How far out are you?

Don't feel bad.

You are among friends.

food didn't agree with me, either. That's how I got to 470+ lbs, lol.

food was feeling violated whenever I came within reach.

Damage was done.

Now....I'm grateful that certain foods have a way of making me feel their wrath. Sugary and starchy foods especially....leave me feeling like crud. I"m grateful for it 'cause I sure as hell don't want to go back to the old ways.

Before surgery, I was intolerant to garlic. I could handle a little, but large quantities would make me sick.

A couple of weeks ago I ate some salad my mother-in-law made consisting of beets and tons of garlic.

I thought I was going to die. For two days I reeked of garlic. I blew up with garlic gas so badly I couldn't button my jeans. Everyone avoided the stinky, half- naked, vomiting, whining person.

There is no moral to the story. I'm just letting you know because misery loves company.

Before surgery I was able to eat eggs, but now after surgery and able to eat eggs my stomach will not tolerate it. I have been sick for 4 days now and it is coming out of both ends. But today it kind of eased up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
