Carbs, Fats and Protein daily goals?

I'm interested to know what your daily calorie goals are and how it divides into fats, carbs and Proteins.

I'm 3 months post RNY

I use my fitnesspal and not try to follow a balanced macro plan after being told by my dietician that my carbs were way too low. It isn't as high as she likes...but I feel good in this range. 35% carb, 25% fat and 40% Protein. There is a good Facebook group with recipes etc that helps explain and support this...

I don't count carbs or fat, just follow the program my NUT gave to me. 64 oz Water, 70-90g Protein, 5 meals a day - every 3 - 4 hours. All meals contain Protein, and green veggies (if room), 2 meals can include a multigrain serving and 2 meals can contain a fruit serving (if there is room after protein). Can have 3 healthy fats a day, including 1 oz nuts, 1 tsp olive oil

I typically go from 800-1000 calories a day..30 net carbs and 100g of Protein is my daily goals..I don't measure fat since I eat good fats

OK so a hard boiled egg is 64% fat (good fat), 3% carb and 33% protein. Do you count that fat as carb?

After RNY surgery, the part of your stomach that normally processes fats and sugars has been cut away. Therefore if you consume fats and sugars it can lead to dumping. After about a year, you body figures out something is wrong and your intestines learn how to process fats and sugars and then it is possible to consume those again.

During this later stage, my nutritionist recommends a balanced diet of equal amounts of Protein, carbs and fats, with always Protein first. I am over 3 years post-op and I avoid sugar like a plague. I incorporate fats into my diet because fats take away hunger. So in my stage, I consume butter, whole milk, my own homemade whipping cream in my coffee (using splenda not sugar), and non-lean cuts of meat. I generally allow myself one meal a day that includes complex carbs, such as bread or Pasta.

At 3 months post-op, stay away from fats and sugars and complex carbs. Generally don't count carbs but pay meticulous attention to meal volume. The weight loss phase is fairly short and you want to maximize your weight loss during this stage because before you will know it you will slide quite naturally into the maintenance phase.

There is about 5 grams of fat in an egg. There is around 25.6 grams of fat in a 3.5 ounce serving of T-bone steak. So generally after surgery, it is recommended to concentrate on consuming leaner cuts of meat. The fat content of an egg should not be a problem. Generally your stomach should be able to tolerate it. But that cannot be said about a T-bone steak.

The egg comment was more in response to Lucky2Loose's comment that she doesn't count fat as long as it's "good".. I'm sure the same could be said for avo?

I would think she dosen't count fat, but would count the carb as a carb.

When I eat an egg, I count an egg as less than 1 net carb and don't look at the fat content. I use net carbs which is the carb minus any Fiber. I don't count fat but eat good fat. My main goals daily is lots of Water..eat under 30 net carbs, get 100g of protein and to walk at least 10K steps and weight train 3 times a week.

My good fat food that I eat is coconut oil, avocado, nuts, etc. :)

I count their calories but don't worry about fat as my main goal. I do eat lean meats though.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
