I bought a small cooler at Walmart, put fishing decals all over it to personalize it. When I'm not going to be somewhere that I can have the food, I pack it full of stuff I can have. It's saved my butt many times since my surgery.

you did not mention what stage you are in and what is making you sick however I travel a lot and I keep tuna ( in the foil pks) in the car at all times. doesn't have to be refrigerated. also have a small cooler and have cheese sticks and my Protein Drink in it. I make some egg muffins and have them but would not trust them for a long time even in the cooler if you live in a warm area. in florida about two hours is all I trust them. there are the Protein Bars and Soups or broth if you have access to a microwave. I often us the ones at 7-11 and so far no one has said not to. good luck to you

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

So it is important to pack Protein such as premixed Protein shakes (high in protein and low in sugar) or if you are further advanced from surgery, protein bars. Whenever I am traveling I pack Quest protein bars.

It is equally important to have access to liquids. Most people take bottled Water with them wherever they go. I like a drink called Bai which I buy by the case at Sam's Club. There is one version of Gatorade which has low sugar and good electrolytes that some people use.

Not at the beginning but later, maybe a year out, you can return to eating out at restaraunts. But concentrate on high protein, small portion, low sugar foods. I am over 3 years post-op RNY and I might eat 2 crunchy tacos at Taco Bell. (no drinks, nothing else, only tacos) or a chili at Wendy's.

I have the tacos also but have them with out chips and no shells power lite cheese. I can also have a grilled chicken thigh ( remove the skin) and green Beans at kfc or baked wings ( about 3) at wild wings. chipotle sells side orders of their grilled chicken. I can make great choices at restaurants but it is harder at fast food places. since I travel a lot this is where I have to eat so any other suggestions of things will be welcome. I know chic filet has baked nuggets but I wont go there because of their policy regarding gays thanks

I keep a few packs of flavored tuna & salmon in my desk drawer.

Quest bars are rush meals, too.

I can pretty much go to any restaurant on the planet and find something that is in accord with how I want to eat now. Most fast food places have grilled chicken salads that hit the spot nicely.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
