Water causing stomach pain

Recommended Posts

Thank you all so much for your feedback, suggestions, and support! I will experiment with different temps, and also Smart Water (which used to be my preferred bottle brand anyhow, I just have been at home a lot so not been out buying bottled water), and have been making sure not to take too big of sips.

I mentioned it to my surgeon at my 2 week post-op, but he didn't really have any thoughts, except to say maybe I was drinking too fast. *shrug* I hope/believe it will eventually go away regardless.

I am 30 days post-op and constantly struggle with my wafter intake. I need any new idea because I'm barely getting 30oz of Water. if it wasn't for Popsicles it would be worst.

I am having the same problem. I was Sleeved on 1/23/17, and I try every day to at least get up to 48 oz., but I can't seem to do it. I do have about 12 oz. of hot tea every day. It just seems there are bit enough hours in the day to get everything in.

Drinking feels like a full time job!

I was sleeved on 1/23/2017 too. I can't get all the Water in either. It just makes me feel too full. Hopefully it will get easier as time goes on.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
