fatgirlfreed 42 Posted January 6, 2017 Can anyone speak to the comparisons between the 2?? Trying to gauge how painful this will be. I've experienced 2 c-sections, one being emergency (awful recovery!!!!) any input welcome!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted January 6, 2017 I had a crash c-section and just had a VSG...you can't even compare the two. My c-section recovery was horrific, recovering from the VSG was cake.
jhmingo 8 Posted January 6, 2017 No comparison at all the only similarly for me was that I sleep upright the first week it was uncomfortable for me to lay down Sent from my LG-K330 using the BariatricPal App
erica_ozzy73 241 Posted January 6, 2017 I've had 3 c sections and by far the worst was them.... this vsg I had NO pain at all.. seriously I could sleep on my side from day 2 and stomach by 4 days. Nothing has been as issue for me. But the c sections omg they hurt lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
AnaDmom3 66 Posted January 6, 2017 One c-section and seriously VSG experience has been a breeze from first day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
ella37 455 Posted January 6, 2017 Assuming your procedure is laparoscopic, you have nothing to worry about. My incisions were barely even bothersome other than some itching. I know some people have more issues than I did and I've never had a C section but these incisions were much easier than any surgery I've ever had. I slept on my side that night and needed only a little help standing up for the first couple days.

DisneyMom2El 120 Posted January 8, 2017 I had a pretty easy recovery from a c-section, but even with that, the vsg was a cake walk. I have had no pain whatsoever, though I am constantly battling nausea and can't keep up with my liquids and Proteins at four days post op. I also can sleep on my side, have no issues with walking, and have not had any gas pains. I'm already fully caring for my 1 year old easily, she even sleeps on me and there is no discomfort. Really the two cannot compare. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm just worried I'm too confident about recovery and it's going to kick my butt! Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
iamOpalicious 53 Posted January 9, 2017 For me I think this was a little more painful only because you need to use your stomach muscles Way more than you use the muscles down at your bikini area. I have a lot more scar tissue than I did down there too. I think because you never really get to rest that area. But the pain itself is not bad both areas have numbness after the surgery. aniram 6 Posted January 9, 2017 I think after being through a traumatic emergency C-section and a lot of pain to recovery my Sleeve will be much easier! Not even scared of the pain at all. Pregnancy and Emergency C section trained me very well!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

dayna2017 53 Posted January 9, 2017 I found my c-section recovery was was so easy though one of my twin boys was put in nicu and seeing him there had me instantly vomiting... could've just been the anesthesia wearing off but.. I had my surgery 4 days ago and what is comparable... whatever pain you have seems to be short lived. Sure I had awful gas pains and felt I couldn't move the upper half of my body but 2 days after... meh! Just excited for 2017! Congrats on your upcoming surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
