I am always hungry stomach making animal noises nonstop what do I do

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Try the Gas-X strips for the animal noises. I was very, very hungry for at least 12 days post-op. I'm PO day 16, and it's subsided.

People say it's head hunger, but it feels the same as actual hunger, so at this point it doesn't matter which is which.

Unfortunately, nothing I did would help it go away. Only time. Even now, I'm not 100% over it.

It was a real blow, because it seemed to me that many people were not hungry at all post-op, and there I was starving.

The only advice I can give you is cry, scream, and rant when you need to. Let it all out. In time, your hunger will die down.

Best to you, @Twinb919.

I am 2 and a half months out and I am still always feeling that. It's more of a mind over matter type of thing. I know when I'm hungry and when it's just everything moving along through my system. It's hard to explain but the Hunger noise is different from the food moving along my system. You will get to learn your body all over again. This is the time you get to know what noise or pain means what!

Make sure that you are eating Breakfast, lunch and dinner and then your Snacks inbetween meals... so that you are getting in 5-6 meals a day.

As you are one week out, you are probably on the full liquid diet phase (not sure-everyone is different). If you are on full liquids, just drink some Protein shake or eat a snack of healthy low-sugar yogurt without fruit in it. The Protein will help fill you up better than anything else will. Also make sure you get plenty of liquids.< /p>

Feeling hungry and rumbly stomach noises are both common symptoms of too much stomach acid. Too much stomach acid is a common side-effect of gastric sleeve surgery. Most surgeons put their patients on a prescription for a PPI after surgery, such as omeprazole (Prilosec), Nexxium, or Protonix. If you aren't on a drug like that, contact your surgeon and ask for a prescription. Or, start taking one over the counter. I know for omeprazole the standard dose post-op is 40 mg per day, 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg at night.

If you are on one of these drugs already, contact your doctor about either increasing your dose or trying a different, stronger drug.

It's good to hear there may be some relief in sight, I'm 8 days post op and so hungry... I've been wondering if this is the way it will be forever...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
