c86mc 24 Posted January 5, 2017 I have experienced this a couple times now. Where I feel nauseous and like I have to throw up but nothing comes up. I just sit there and heave and heave. Some spit up maybe, but no food is coming up. It's such a terrible feeling. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
shareeann 110 Posted January 5, 2017 It just happened to me tonight. It happens my Doc said when your food including saliva goes over the new stomach capacity it will come up whether saliva or food. He told me to weigh my meals for the 2 ozs so it doesn't happen. But of course I eye balled it tonight. LOL
Hannah Lee 3 Posted January 6, 2017 I had (apparently) a stomach bug around Christmas, and anytime I would go to throw up, this is all that would happen. It was just like normal vomiting, with the muscle spasming and all, but nothing would come up except some saliva/spit that normally accumulates in the mouth when you vomit. (no disrespect to the previous commentor's surgeon, but this saliva clearly is originating in my mouth, it's not coming up from my stomach.) Even the two times I tried to make myself ill just to get some relief, no food came up. And yet, I did feel better afterwards. Someone on this board said that it's not uncommon for post-bypass people to not be able to vomit.. I had never heard this, so we'll see if I ever can vomit again lol. But to sum up, I have been there, but I don't have the answers.
shareeann 110 Posted January 6, 2017 Hannah I don't think she's talking about having a stomach bug. I've thrown up many times and it wasn't from being sick . That's why I asked my doctor about it. Throwing up happens all the time. Sometimes it's only saliva other times it's the whole shabang. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
shawnp985 0 Posted January 6, 2017 This can be just from nausea which is also a common side effect from bariatric surgery. I get it a lot too. I was put on two nausea medications to control mine, it's been over a year and I'm still experiencing nausea and some dry heaving and vomiting. And many times that's on an empty stomach or with just liquids. So you're not alone. Supposedly removing my gallbladder was going to relieve the symptoms but it did nothing. Hope all is well!! Djmohr 6,965 Posted January 6, 2017 I get something similar and it is when I have overdone it in volume or if I decide to indulge in something way to heavy/sweet. I will get terribly nauseous and then I want to throw up so bad but all i get are the dry heaves. It goes away for me after maybe 30 minutes or so?
