I am planning on getting all my pre-op photos and measurements this weekend but I'm not sure what measurements I should take. I know the obvious— bust, waist, hips — but what else should I keep track of?

You are going to love this.... I measured my butt print!

I put the tape measure on the coffee table and sat on it and measured the widest part. I have read that the average airplane seat is 17 inches wide and I am booking a flight to anywhere as soon as my butt can stay within the confines of my own seat.

In addition to what you mentioned, you can also measure your thigh and upper arm.

You can go nuts if you want but I stuck with the basics (chest, stomach, waist, biceps, thighs and calfs) I wish that I'd done my neck size too just for my own curiosity.

I use this app. I like it because it reminds you exactly where to measure to take consistent measurements.

It's your choice. Measure whatever you decide you want to keep on record. No big deal. I never measured before surgery whether I was dieting or not, so I saw no reason to start. That was my own choice.

I did those three plus thigh and upper arm. My thigh is now smaller than my arm was when I first started!

Since you're interested in measuring, this article from SparkPeople may be useful. I just noticed it while I was at the site doing my thing(s) (SP is where I track food). At a very quick glance, I got the impression that the measurements article points people to making their records useful in terms of health.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
