I am a fulltime college student, living on campus. Im currently on winter break. I have my very first consultation on Jan 10th. I was wondering if there are others here that have gone through with the gastric sleeve surgery & how the pre-op stage & post op went while in college?

I am in nursing school, although I am a Nontraditional student at age 42 and I don't live on campus. My school is surrounded by restaurants, though, so I will definitely have eating challenges. My plan is to eat at the hospital cafeteria, which has Greek yogurt and lean Protein options available. I of course have to make time to cook for myself at home, too, which is hard when assignments start piling up. My first appointment is on the 9th.

Im thinking about starting ARNP school for my Masters in nursing but im waiting until after surgery because I am already a Registered Nurse and I Remember how hard nursing school was. I honestly don't think I could of done this in school. However you know yourself better than anyone else. So I say go for it.

I was supposed to do this while I was in college, but did not for reasons outside my control. At that same time, though, a friend of mine was doing it. She took the semester off to have surgery. Her surgery happened over Christmas break, and she took off for the spring semester. She wanted to focus on one big thing at a time.

Can we be friends? Hahaha I'm heading into my junior year at North Carolina State University studying to teach secondary English. I live close to campus, and I'm almost 4 weeks out from surgery. School starts back monday! (If we don't get some nasty snow)

I had duodenal switch surgery, which involves a sleeve along with A malabsorption component.

i'm in law school right now so not college but a lot of similar challenges! i do have my own apartment so i can cook at home but there are so many events held on campus with food and lots of breakfast/dinner meetings/study groups which i'm not sure how i will get out of... I just keep on telling myself that it will be worth it!

I'm getting sleeved next week (which is the first week of the semester) so I definitely think it can be done while in school!

I'm in a mortuary science program right now, and honestly...eating can be tough. I have the sleeve and I'm just over 2 months out. I really dislike always having to carry a lunch bag with me, but there's really no other option for me. I keep Oikos Zero Greek yogurt, a few cheese sticks, a think thin low GI Protein bar or two, and sometimes tuna with relish or sliced rotisserie chicken in my bag with cold packs. Cracker barrel 2% reduced fat cheddar cheese sticks are a life saver.

This isn't a necessary answer for the person who asked as this was years ago but for people who found this page.

I got my surgery like a monthish ago and have still 2 and a half weeks til college starts, I am in second year and I am 22 years old. If you consider this surgery giver yourself atleast this amount of time because i think people myself included underestimate how tough recovery can be, i am still nowhere near fully recovered but believe me the first month is hard. You need to relearn how to eat and it will not be pleasant if you make a mistake while that, i recommend not doing this over a small holiday, because this is still a surgery and like any other your body needs to get used to it. Believe me no matter who you are you will not really be prepared for what's to come so spare yourself and give yourself a good time to heal.

Oh, that's not very nice. I had an operation on my shoulder, but I more or less endured it, although I could not cope without help. I couldn't move my arm, so I only went to lectures.

I had surgery on my right palm, and my whole family encouraged me that it was not the entire arm, just the palm. However, I can't write (I am a student in the literature faculty), and it affects me enough. It seems that having surgeries as a student is awful, esp. because of the other misunderstanding with colleagues ... Another conclusion I made is that nobody would help you if you wouldn't do it. I am lucky to use essayservicescanner.com to realize my essay homework and maintain my grades well. Still, before using the EduBirdie review service, the first period after surgery, it was hard for me to resist at the university. Furthermore, I am not used to writing reviews or texts with my left hand since some professors don't accept typed essays, just handwriting.

Today many services help you do your homework. You don't have to pay anything to do easy assignments, but you have to pay money to get the hard work done. I study at uni, and we need to do a lot of essays. Moreover, I work after uni, so I have little free time. But I found the best essay writing service reddit 2022, and I turn to them for help. Different companies specialize in various subjects. I would do all the tasks myself, but I can't do them because of the physical lack of time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
