stalls is this normal?

Recommended Posts

i know with weight loss stalls are a factor so many other things also make some lose faster than others.

i didn't have an extremely high bmi to start with so i know i'll loose slower.

i started at 255 day of surgery i was 240(so after my two weeks of optifast)

today i weigh 202/201

i am 5"7

i've just started hitting my Protein goal daily for about 2 weeks now!

i'm unsure if i'm not loosing weight like i should be. i feel great but the scale hasn't moved in 2.5 weeks i know it happens but last month i only lost maybe 8/9 pounds i am 3 months out from surgery had it september 22 2016 should i try and work harder? or just keep on going :) thanks

I had my bypass on 8/8/16. SW 281 CW 202. I'm losing 2 1/2 to 3lb. a week. The weight loss is slowing down but I expected that especially since I'm almost under 200 lb. I think your weight loss is normal. The lighter we get the weight will come off slower.

I had surgery on 8/25/16. SW was 286. Today I'm 238. I did not loose a lb for a whole month. I freaked out! My doc said it was normal that some people had a longer stall than others. The next week I lost 6 lbs in a week. But I have to say it didn't kick back in until I started exercising ! Some people never exercise and keep loosing. I'm not one of those people. I'm finding We have to make those changes for lifelong health.

Yep you are doing great and right around where I am. Weight loss in the the first year has more to do with genetics,,,if you are eating healthy and moving your body just stick it out. I walk 10,000 steps a day. I did 8-9 lbs. this past month..just had my dietician appointment and she was thrilled. Here is a chart for reference...post-300502-0-55093100-1483706320_thumb.png

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
