VSG BMI 33 from saudi

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I don't know how to write an introduction , so ill just say whats in my mind.

I have been on a diet since i was in the high school , my avg weight is 210 lbs and height 5.8ft. My body shape is killing me( pyramid shape), i wear L to M shirt with 38w jeans.

I have been really considering the sleeve as an option to but me on the correct path and force me to lose weight!

Basically, i have tried more than 4-6 diets ( ill write it down so it would be helpful for the people who are considering the surgery)

I have tried south beach diet , low cal diet ,calculating the macro diet-iifym-, and high Protein low carb diet, over the past 17 years.

However, my lowest was 188lb and highest 282.

Current weight at 229.

I am sick of gaining weight again and again.

I do weight lifting and some HIIT cardio but still , if i went to vacation for 5 days or two weeks ill return to the previous weight!

Having said that , currently i am considering the sleeve as an optimal solution and would help me to reduce the weight (hopefully to optimal).

I write the questions down,

1) have any one with the pyramids shape lose the fat on that area?

2) what is the long term results specially with gaining/losing weight ( more than 10 years)

Finally , hopefully what i write is clear since english is my second language.

I had vsg 1/14. The surgeon used a 40 bougie. I am maintain but have to watch my diet constantly. Low carb high Protein and 1200 calories or less. 1500 calories and I gain weight. Getting the weight off was easy. Maintanence more difficult. I'm hungry a lot however I like what I see on the mirror so i feel it's worth it. I ve been logging food for about 5 yrs. it's the only way I can be successful.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
