For the Lady Sleevers (Bras)

Recommended Posts

Ladies I've always wore a good support bra which are rather expensive. I have a few that ok in the cup but not around the body.

What were some of the things you did to help support through your transition with out having to buy a new bra every month?

I have some ancient bras lying around from around 9-10 years ago that are a cup down from what I am now, will keep them in mind as I continue to lose weight and may start to feel some shrinkage.

I'm buying a new bra every month ????. But I'm just getting $10 Walmart underwires. They're not bad, and I don't feel guilty tossing them when I'm done. When I reach goal I'm going to treat myself to some great bras.

Since it's winter, I've been wearing a supportive sports bra (Under Armor has great ones) under my sweaters.. and then in the spring I will probably find cheaper ones I can not feel bad about throwing out!

I use bralettes. I was a D before surgery, so the bralettes provide enough support for my tiny tatas.

I bought bras every few weeks, it's just not something I can negotiate on. I went from DD to a G cup. A good support bra isn't optional.

What does help them last longer is a good strong torso shaper. Like a the wear your own bra torso ette from Maidenform.

They give you that security of a tight band feel.

I'm not terribly big (started out a 42-44 D), so I can get away with stretchy sports bras and the "genie" style bras. I'm about to buy one, maybe two "normal" bras for the blouses that don't look right with a uniboob since none of my old bras are even close to fitting at this point, and I'll probably buy them a little snug in the band and just pray the cups don't deflate much further. I'm holding off on buying high-end stuff until I'm at goal, of course.

Along with way more clothing that any one person should own I have bras from size 44c down to 38b. Wearing 42c now with a good shaper tank over it. "Genie" shape ware. Cheep and well made.

I've just been buying cheap undies and bras at kmart. I'm not spending cash on the good stuff till I'm settled. For now it's cheap support, otherwise I'm swinging around like one of those Newton's Cradle toys.

Clearly you all don't yo-yo like I have! I've got everything from an 8 to a 22 in my closet and bras that go with every size to go with them.

I'm a shape and a size I have never been, so even if I had old bras they wouldn't help me. I have never been a 36G in my life.

This is what I was talking about, I was out earlier and couldn't find the link.

This will help you make a bra last longer because it will hold you tight and push you up to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
