Now that it is getting really cold, I want Soup. Specifically, my mom's vegetable beef Soup. It is low fat and has a decent calorie-Protein ratio. Does this count as a liquid? I am not supposed to drink 30 minutes before and after a meal, so how does soup fit in that? Thanks of any advice and views. Oh, and I am 3 months out, feeling great and losing at a very nice pace. Happy with the world.

I have Soup all the time. I count the clear soup as part of my liquids. I asked my surgeon about the drinking rule, and she said that soup is allowed and not to worry about it, unless it causes me nausea (which it doesn't). Every program is different but mine encourages healthy Soups.

My program doesn't allow Soup unless you drain the broth, drink the broth, then eat the remaining chunks of meat, veggies, whatever. As you can see, programs vary -- you may want to check in with yours to get their guidance.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
