I had gastric bypass 12/12. Tomorrow I am able to start pureed foods. After spending hours on Pinterest I found a few recipes I'd like to make. In the almost three weeks since surgery I've had very very little Protein. My surgeons office says no shakes until I get to full foods. My body feels SO weak. Am I able to mix unflavored Protein into any recipe I choose to make? Or does it need to be a liquid?

Thank you!

I know that protien mix by powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury clumps and turns jelly like thickness if over 140 degrees, but I'm sorry, I can't give you advice on this topic.

I've found mixing it with a little Water before adding it to warm things makes it not clump so terribly... so I make my morning coffee, in a separate mug I add the Protein Powder to the milk and then add the coffee to that. No problems with clumping!

I use the unflavored powder all the time in Soups etc. mix it with a little Water and beat it to death so there are no lumps then slowly add the warm liquid to it while stirring the entire time. I usually do it in thirds wait a moment and then add more stirring the whole time. not many lumps that way.

@@snimmon They said no shakes until real food? That's the opposite of what I was told. I was told to have shakes until I get to real food and then try to get all my Protein from real food. You might want to check back in with them to see if what you heard was correct.

I had my surgery on 12/12 myself. And my post op plan is that on phase II, I'm back to Protein shakes. We need Protein. Otherwise there is no energy to walk, which is important to our recovery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
