brennafaith 25 Posted January 1, 2017 I sometimes feel like I take to big of sips? How will I know? I'm very paranoid. I won't even eat sugar free Jello even though I'm so hungry.. I just really don't wanna mess this up. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App
Lulu_RNY 80 Posted January 1, 2017 I felt the same way too!!! That's normal though!! Bigger sips happen especially once your stomachs inflammation has gone down. I'm currently still on my liquid diet and I ate sugar free Jello for the first time today and it was SO satisfying! (I've been on a liquid diet for 10 days now) don't feel bad girl...eat the jello! It'll be counted towards your Fluid intake too!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App
bleonhardt 46 Posted January 1, 2017 You will know friend!!! Of you over fill your pouch you will feel a bit miserable. But please eat. Just small bites and eat it over a 30 min span without drinking during that time. If you feel a bit of discomfort what I do is stand up....that lets everything slowly go down. Take your time but make sure you eat what you can manage and take sips every 15 min. I wish you much success!! It was tedious, but I wanted to learn because, same as you, I just really don't wanna mess this up. After decades of never sipping, it'll take some time. Schatzi 17 Posted January 1, 2017 I'm worried about this too! I didn't think to measure out my Water for sips. Thanks Sent from my SM-N910R4 using the BariatricPal App

I was drinking from med cups in hospital and nurse said each cup take me a few sips. Or is that accelerated after a day or two? I'd love to swallow 15ml since my liquids Percocet is so nasty!???? sasharbinx 115 Posted January 1, 2017 Earlier I accidentally took a gulp of Water from my water bottle and my eyes were wide - I was like oh snap, what do I do? I swallowed the gulp slowly and waited a while for my next sip. Definitely a lesson learned! Don't want to get that bursting feeling in my chest! GinaCampbell 434 Posted January 1, 2017 Just take it slow. Small mouthfuls will be tolerated. Don't gulp, think slide. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

GinaCampbell 434 Posted January 1, 2017 I forgot myself once and swallowed something carbonated early on that scared me. Then I accidentally swallowed a tablet that was too big. I also absentmindedly swallowed a bite of solid food too soon. These things happen. It's good to be careful and mindful. White Sale 339 Posted January 1, 2017 @@CakesItUp - I did the 15mL starting PO day 4 or so. Everyone is different, so maybe start a 5mL and see how it goes, then increase bit by bit. Be sure to leave a minute or two between "practices" so you know that you've swallowed it all.
MrsPenguin 103 Posted January 2, 2017 I learned to take a mouthful of liquid and turn it into several swallows. Strange the new techniques we are learning!

naturegirl 320 Posted January 3, 2017 You will know when you take too big of a sip! My stomach screams at me in pain when I take in too much. I often have to be careful after running as I'm craving cold Water to gulp down, but can't. I use a straw and take in Water easier this way, but still inhale too much from time to time. Good luck and get in those small sips however you can. Avoid the big ones!!!!
