pdallariva 57 Posted December 31, 2016 My surgery was 6 months ago and I have dropped 100lbs. I literally eat 12 small meals a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
MissJDVSG 129 Posted January 1, 2017 I'm pre op and I'm not a gastric bypass patient, but I think you might mean waking hours. If your surgeon told you to eat or drink 3 to 4 ounces per hour during your waking hours, it just means that hours that you are awake and not sleeping. So, if I'm understanding your question correctly, every hour you are awake, you should be taking in some food or liquids. James Marusek 5,244 Posted January 1, 2017 Generally the requirement is to drink 64-80 ounces of fluids a day. Primarily concentrate on the three most important elements: Protein, fluids and Vitamins. food is secondary. Many patients find it difficult to meet their Fluid and Protein requirements during the first couple weeks after surgery because their body is in a major heal mode. But just keep trying and you should eventually be able to get there.
Mei 32 Posted January 1, 2017 Surgery on the 28th bypass - was told to drink an ounce every hour and walk 1min./15min. I didn't start walking until yesterday (very little). Did more today. Drink 64oz - mainly Protein if possible. I haven't been able to do it, but finally have bowl movement today. Best of luck to you! Ravensgrl 19 Posted January 1, 2017 I am 5 months post op now. I had to sip Water all day for a minimum of 48 ozs, as well as 8 oz Protein shakes (split into 2 oz portions) and full liquid meals that were 2 ozs each. I suggest just keep sipping your liquids throughout the day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
