I was sleeved Dec 6th and I have had nausea everyday since. I was wondering how long everyone had it before it went away? I take anti nausea meds but I wake up nauseated and off and on through out the day.

So frustrating, right?? I swore it would never end. My family got to a point where they were mocking me because it was so routine and comical. You will heal different then anyone else, so it's hard to say how long it will last. For me, I was just over 2 months post-op. I went from a bad gag-reflux issue/vomiting/bad sense of smell to 100% normal overnight. So weird. Don't give up hope, just take your meds, eat what you can, get your fluids in and just take it day by day. It WILL get better and you will LOVE your decision!

My nausea went away once I got to stage 4 and could eat somewhat solid foods. Once I had real food in my belly, the nausea stopped! Hope it eases up for you soon. Feeling sick all the time is the worst!

My surgical team calls it the window of misery. 6-8 weeks for most sleeve patients. She said drink warm liquids..it helps break up the mucus in the stomach that causes the nausea. I take a daily musinex anyway and I suffer with motion sickness already, so I worried it would be awful for me after surgery. Other than the rare occasion I have been lucky and not gotten nauseous..hope you feel better soon.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
