I notice a lot of people saying that they are drinking coffee. Is that decafe or caffeine? I stopped drinking caffeine (Diet Coke and coffee) about 6 weeks ago. I want caffeine but was told not to.

I drink caffeinated coffee every day. Was told early on by my dr that as long as I get my fluids and Protein in each day I can have caffeinated coffee.

I have coffee basically whenever I want to but I am not a heavy drinker. I did hold off until 2 weeks post op because my stomach was irritated and acidy even with a PPI. My thought is try a little, if it is not well received then try in a week or so. Basically it's how you try out a new food.

I drink coffee almost everyday, tea as well. As long as you hydrate enough, I don't think it's a problem.

Dropped down to half caf then Decaf prior to surgery, then decaf, half caf and regular coffee post surgery as my stomach healed.

Decaf could also be an irritant due to the acidity for some people.

Follow your plan.

^^^^^ This. Follow your plan. I was told to go completely decaf prior to surgery. So I did. Once I was post-op, they said it was fine to go back to caffeine coffee if I wanted. I drink a couple of cups in the morning, and often several cups of decaf throughout the day.

coffee hydrates people as well as Water does, so there is no need not to count it as fluids, or try to make up for it or something else.

Probably 75% of my liquid intake is full test black coffee and has been for years, so if there were some sort of problem with caffeine and dehydration I should be a desiccated piece of dead leathery skin by now but I am perfectly healthy.

Coffee is acidic and can be hard on a sleeved stomach, especially a newly sleeved stomach, so that alone should be reason for caution, though.

I had to be off caffeine pre-op, but the post-op caffeine was left up to me once I could get enough liquids in!

I reduced my coffee intake from 5-6 strong coffee a day down to 1-2 piccolo a day post operatively. I'm week 3 now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
