A 1/2 cup of papaya has about 75 grams of carbs. Apples, about 8 grams of carbs per 1/2 cup would probably be better.

A serving of Benifiber has only 4 grams of carbs.

All Fiber is carbs. All sugars are carbs, but not all carbs are sugar. Fiber is neither digestible nor absorbable, but sugar (of course) is.

One would have to calculate net carbs to see if it's ok:

Fiber carbs - sugar carbs = net carbs

This is what my nutritionist taught me.

Miralax is my friend. I too had that horrid poop experience. I wanted to die. Child birth was easier, I had an epidural lol. I used Miralax for about 2.5 weeks, then transitioned to a Probiotic Vitamin. It keeps me regular. If I get too loose, I go every other day with the probiotic .

My Dr told me try eating an apple or papaya for Breakfast every morning. Very high in fiber. Gonna start this tomorrow.

I have an granny smith apple a day. Other than the first couple of weeks, I haven't had an issue. I just eat them because I need the other health benefits from it, but I hope it helps you with your Constipation.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, ground flax seed is really great for constipation. I used 1-2T in my shakes, cottage cheese, wherever. Works as good as Metamucil but tastes much better and it has Omega 3s.

My life revolves around poop ????

I wish I could say it gets better, but if I don't watch my out-go religiously, I pay for it for an entire week.

I take Miralax and stool softeners daily. Have been to the ER three times since surgery with this problem. All three times, thought I had a bowel obstruction - I did not. The last time was just a couple of weeks ago. I was told then, I will probably have to take Miralax and stool softeners for life. Oh, well.

A Fiber Gummy once per day has been all I need to keep going, and all the volume I can handle.

Ya mine was a three day ordeal of trying to get anything out. It finally did and I had to brace myself. Honestly I felt ripped open LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
