nurseyp64 2 Posted December 30, 2016 Help...I am 4 weeks post surgery and have lost about 30 lbs but I am hungry all of the time. I am on stage 3 which is 2 x 2oz Protein meals and 2 Protein Shakes daily. Does anyone else have this problem? Oh and I am also craving carbs!
FrankyG 1,450 Posted December 30, 2016 Are you on any sort of stomach acid reducer? Many times the feelings of acid reflux/heartburn will "read" as hunger after surgery. I was on a PPI (Omeprazole which is the generic for Prilosec) for about 6 months after surgery, and still take an antacid occasionally 2 years out. And sipping flavored Water (I am addicted to no cal fruit punch) is really helpful to get in fluids and fill you up as well. Otherwise I'd suggest speaking with your Nutritionist/doctor about calorie levels and types of food and find out if you're doing okay or may be okay to up your calories at some point. slvarltx 332 Posted December 30, 2016 Very normal! It is called "head hunger ". U are breaking life long habits. Unfortunately you will have to endure this discomfort until your body and mind reset...took about a year for me...now i am only hungry when my body actually needs fuel Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
