What's everyone's spin on cheese post op? I'm to the point where I can have it. Being a cheese lover, I think I can incorporate it in healthy meals as long as it is low fat and high Protein, but I want to know what everyone else thinks and how they've eaten cheese post op. I don't want to end up gaining weight post op. Thanks!

Glad you brought up this topic I haven't had surgery yet but I'm like a big rat I love cheese myself it worries me because I been known to knock of a nice block of good cheese

Haha! Love it! How has it played into your weight loss? Do you think it helps or makes your weight loss slower? That's just my fear.

I cut up a 2 pound brick of Tillamook pepper crack into 32 pieces. It's easy, half it, half those pieces then quarter them, take everything and cut them in half. Now you have 32 1oz pieces. I add these to all kinds of things, chili, meatloaf, chicken and of course I often eat it on its own. I also love gouda and havarti. For some reason I have a hard time with cheddar.

Yeah!!!

cheese is by no means the worst thing you can eat in ANY stage of the process...

There's Protein in cheese...

It may not always be at the best ratio in regard to calories...

But I'll be f*cked if I'm giving up EVERYTHING!!!

cheese is a reason to live. To answer your question, in moderation. Unless a cheese is lowfat from the day it was first produced, why give up the real thing? Most are god awful in lowfat versions. Eat the best-tasting whatever-it-is. When I do, my soul sings and I don't even want all that much.

@ plays dominoes with the pepper-dotted cheese before tossing the pieces into the pot. He gives me the cheddar.

You're be free of fear if your goal is reasonable. Can you live with a goal "To lose weight?" I'll make a crazy-wild guess that you were obese for quite a while. Is there really an emergency now to lose rapidly? If you eat well, you will lose. Make it a joyful process -- eat cheese.

Love cheese. Can't live without cheese. Surgeon says I absolutely don't have to live without cheese. Just ordered a case of Moon Cheese from Amazon. (If you haven't tried it, you must...)

Had the best cheese meal tonight and so easy

Turkey deli meat

Avocado

Either sliced or cheese stick

Roll up and heat in a pan with little olive oil

Cheese melts and it's like eating grilled cheese with the meat as the bread!

I always eat cheese now. Surgery was March. I did talk to my surgeon I was worried I was eating too much. He laughed and said cut the crackers out with it, but that the cheese is fine it's Protein. I have it every single day for morning tea and dessert. I've lost 46kg since March, so it can't be that bad!

There e no BAD foods, but some foods are better type Han others. My NUT APPROVES of any nutritious food in moderation. And lets face it, with a stomach that hold just a little over 3 oz I can only eat in moderation.

Cheese!

I make "crackers" out of cheese for spreading tuna and chicken salad on:

The only special thing you need is parchment paper, though I have made it on pieces of brown pepper bag.

Preheat t he over to 375

Cover a shallow baking pain with paper

Shred 2 oz of cheese and add salt and pepper to taste. make six equal mounds on the paper. Leave room they will spread.

Bake for ~10 minutes. (8 in a convection oven) check every minute after the first 7. It's ready when thin and fairly brown on the edges.

Remove from oven and slide the paper onto a cold surface. It's crisper if it cools faster. In a few minutes take it off the paper with a thin spatula and if the cheese is oily blot the crisps with a paper towel.

Once cooled store loosely wrapped in paper at room temperature, keeps for one or two days.

They stay crisp in the frig and even freezer as old as they are in an air tight container.

Six "crackers" with a Protein spread = 2-3 servings

It might take a few trays to get the texture just right but after that it's really easy to make these.

pizza Crackers:toss together ~ 2oz pre shredded "mexican cheese blend" with 1 table spoon of shredded parmesan, a dash of ground pepper and a few shakes of each, dried basil garlic powder, and dried Tomato powder. You can add also two slices of pepperoni

cheese is an excellent snack...the single serve packages are easy for portion control...take small bites and savor the taste

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
