Hello everyone!

So I'm ten days out from my surgery. I was on pain meds, anti nausea pills, and an antacid. I've stopped the pain meds and nausea last Friday. I've been dizzy since the day after my surgery but it's gotten worse since. I just attributed it mainly to the meds I was on... Then started blaming the lack of calorie intake.

I am trying to do good with my Water intake but, it's difficult. I usually drink 35+ or more Fluid ounces a day. So I guess what I'm asking is bottom line... So you think I'm dizzy because I should be drinking more or another issue?

I can't answer about the dizziness and I don't know if it is related, but 35 ounces isn't enough. You could be dehydrated and that can cause havoc on your circulation and heart rate. If you have to chose between food and Water during this post-surgery period, chose Water.

When is your next appt? You should tell your doctor about the dizziness and let them check you out.

Hope you feel better soon.

You DEFINITELY need to increase your Water intake!!! I was experiencing the same thing and my daughter who is a PA checked me and said I had mild symptoms of dehydration. I pulled back from the purée and increased my fluids and the dizziness and other symptoms have gone away.

Yes, you are drinking like 1/2 what you should and the only time I've been dizzy is when I've napped when I should have been drinking.

I had a lot of issues right after surgery due to some complications. I was drinking/eating basically nothing! There were quite a few days were I was lucky to get in 12 ounces of Water and I can tell you that I was extremely dizzy and was almost admitted back into the hospital. Up your Water and that should help :).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
