BubblesOhSoSleeved 129 Posted December 29, 2016 Hey all, so I was approved yesterday {Yay} and it took me forever to get in touch with my case manager today to find out she needed to call bcbsil and confirm although I told her I had the authorization number and that she couldn't even set the date, that she would have to forward everything to my patient advocate. To which I emailed letting him know know that I was approved including my authorization number in the email and stating that I would like a January date. I'm getting irritated because I'm trying to get a job at state farm and the training is 2 months so I can't take off. I really wanted a January date to start my new years off right and to be ready to start this position. Like what's taking so long???? I thought after getting it approved I got a surgery date just like that
shannonsleeved 18 Posted December 29, 2016 My office gives you a date then they submit for surgery. I think every place has their own way of doing things. Hopefully a January date will happen for you. Fingers crossed Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I meant they give you a date then submit to insurance. BubblesOhSoSleeved 129 Posted December 29, 2016 Yeah, there's trouble with that because it could get denied. I just hate I have like 5 people on my team and it takes one person to confirm it's approved but another person to set the date Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
shannonsleeved 18 Posted December 29, 2016 Yep I'm afraid it will be denied. I don't know what's worse waiting on a date or the possibility I could be denied. My surgeons office sounds really confident. I wish I was. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
BubblesOhSoSleeved 129 Posted December 29, 2016 Well if you're approved then you're approved...at least you have that peace of mind. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
LittleBill 2,231 Posted December 30, 2016 It is called bureaucracy. Whether your surgery is government funded, insurance funded, or privately paid, there are a whole bunch of people in the system who do one job, and one job only. Sometimes they are good at it. Most of the time they are adequate. Sometimes they are barely able to keep from being fired. We are all up against it to one degree or another. You are your own best advocate, so keep plugging away.
