What's the go with catheter do you have one or not?

What was your hospital stay?

What was your operation time ?

Mine is expected to be 3hrs

My surgeon says I have to have a couple days in ICU after surgery because I have very seriously uncontrolled diabetes hence 1 of the reason for surgery because nothing else will control it as well as weight loss will all medications aren't working.

Is there much scaring involved ?

Hey there, I am one week post-op.

A little background: I am 31, my BMI was 41, and I did not have any obesity-related diseases. So our cases may not make for good comparison.

What's the go with catheter do you have one or not?
I did not have a catheter.
What was your hospital stay?
About 30 hours. I walked almost immediately after waking up in my hospital room.
What was your operation time ?
I was told it was about 35 minutes.
Is there much scaring involved ?
Can't answer this one yet. I have 5 incisions: 2 are about 2"-2.5' long, the other 3 are less than an inch.

What's the go with catheter do you have one or not?

I did not, or if I had one, it was gone by the time I woke up.

What was your hospital stay?

Went in Wednesday morning and was discharged by Thursday afternoon (dependent on passing leak test and then being able to keep some food down)

What was your operation time ?

Under an hour

Is there much scaring involved ?

I have 5 incisions: the main one is about an inch, the others are about a half inch. They are still a little red at 12 weeks.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
