betty3407 17 Posted December 29, 2016 My gastric bypass is scheduled for january 5th, I am strictly on high Protein slim fast. Im feeling weak and ready to cheat, what can I eat that won't enlarge my liver too bad? Sent from my SM-G550T using the BariatricPal App
erica2185 84 Posted December 29, 2016 Nothing other than what your surgeon suggest, if you wanna be safe for surgery I would suggest sticking to the plan, after all you surgeon put that in place for a reason... I could be wrong. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App
kimberb 323 Posted December 29, 2016 Stick with your plan. If you can't do it now how will you do it later? I'm having my surgery Feb 9th. My plan allows 800 calories a day. No sugar or starch. It may be difficult but we can do this Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App
Raymia 565 Posted December 29, 2016 Drink plenty of Water with it! Now that's what was suggested to me by my Nut... and no I haven't started yet but I'll have to remind my self too.

betty3407 17 Posted December 29, 2016 My surgeon said that if the liver doesnt shrink he would just do open instead of laparoscopic. So its not that bad. But I hope I can reach the size he wants, so far ive lost 16 pounds just with the liquid diet. Sent from my SM-G550T using the BariatricPal App

It's an 8-10" scar versus 5 very small incision, a slower recovery, higher risk of infection, higher risk of hernias. Just follow your surgeon's instructions. Think of it as success training for the rest of your life. The phrase and thinking "it's not that bad" is a slippery slope! 16 pounds is awesome. Keep going!
