Yes, my husband made big batches of it in a slow cooker in preparation for diet. He used organic bones and takes up to 90 hours to cook. Bit then I bought these ( see pics). I love them!!! I don't have experience with sweet versions like the ones you show. I only do the savory. For me they are a nice break from shakes. They are a big trend in helping the stomach to recover and rich in nutrients. I keep the powdered ones in my purse. They taste gourmet too, lots of aromatics. Can be pricey but worth it! ????addpost-308066-14828890572929_thumb.jpg post-308066-14828890737248_thumb.jpg

They carry those ones you posted up top at a local health food store I frequent and they always have samples available. I've tried the banana (really tasty and banana isn't even a favorite flavor of mine) and the "green" flavored one which was more savory. The texture on them was great too. I'm intrigued with the Apple one and the tumeric. I keep hoping they will be sampling them!

I haven't even thought to make some, but after hearing 90 hours...don't think it's going to happen. Ha!

I'm gonna order some and try them out. I only snapped a pic of what I found. Happened to be sweet. I love savory stuff though. I think I'll try both. This will be a good alternative then, as you've suggested to take a break from shakes. I'm trying to go plant based but am willing to do the bone broths for added Protein.

Thanks for your input!

Samples would be great. Although I've heard only good things about it. Just trying to wrap my mind around it not tasting like meat. lol

I make bone broth. It takes 12 hours in the crockpot. Search for Against the Grain in Pinterest. I believe she has recipes for a pressure cooker. It is super easy to make your own and costs less than 10.00 if you have to buy bones from your butcher.

I took the 1 thats up top to the nutritionist and she looked up everything and told me to send it back. Yes the label says its very high in Protein, but not the right Protein that we need. So i sent it back. I ordered it because it had the unflavored kind. But she told me just to get the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored protein and i just add that into whatever im drinking or eating

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
