When did you start abdominal workouts?

Sleeved 11/2/16. I've already started strength training.

Hmmm, my instructions say no lifting or rigorous ab workouts until 3 months post-op in order to avoid hernia.

Definitely listen to Aggiemae - your surgeon is your best advisor and you paid him a lot of money for it.

As with diet progression doctors recommendations vary wildly. My restrictions were only for four weeksZ

I could start working out a month out but i havent started yet. I get dizzy spells and am plain lazy. I try to walk as much as i can but the hip pain makes it undesirable. I think I've lost 38lbs in the 3 months since surgery. I feel like i could have done better. Want to get to under 200 by my birthday Jan 7th. Im 210. I don't think it's possible. But I'll sure try

You've lost 38lbs in 3 months, that's fantastic - over 3lbs/week. Give yourself credit!

I am the same way. I feel like I am losing slowly, esp compared to other people who started at my size. I have lost 55lbs since the surgery (80lbs total including pre op diet) which equates to 4.5lbs per week. That is a really good rate but my brain doesn't focus on that part. It focuses on the guy who lost 100lbs in 3 months.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
