suzzzzz 1,005 Posted December 27, 2016 You strip yourself and put on a hospital gown before they wheel you into surgery.
DisneyMom2El 120 Posted December 27, 2016 It's a sanitation and safety procedure. For example, they look at the worst possible case scenario, which would mean your heart stops beating. They don't want to waste time by having to get your bra out of the way, or if they have to use the paddles on you, they don't want some of that power going to the metal in your underwire. Also, if you are wearing undergarments under your robe, there is a chance of cross-contamination since they came from outside of the hospital. RNMomof4 86 Posted December 27, 2016 There is also the surgical prep which includes areas covered by bra bands and top of panties. Sent from my iPhone 1 beebee17 reacted to this

Dr-Patient 830 Posted December 27, 2016 (edited) Yes. And, FYI: If you've got an "inny" navel, do yourself a favor and clean it out with Q-tips before your surgery. Dip them in alcohol or something. Then use dry ones to dry the navel. Get the crud out so no one in the OR comments or glances askew. The nurses and staff will be so impressed. Had two laparoscopies and can't shake the thought now (lap band insertion and removal). I will clean the hell out of it this time Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted December 28, 2016 @@Monigirl76, I don't really recall, but I imagine the opening would be in front. In either case, take a second robe and put it on over the first in the opposite direction until it's time to take it off.
LittleBill 2,231 Posted December 28, 2016 Not just nude, but for us hairier types, they come in and SHAVE your belly! Mrs. LittleBill teased me for weeks about looking like I was wearing a bra made of hair, since the rest of me was shorn clean. As far as I can tell, nobody messed with my manly parts, but since I was out cold, I could not say for sure. I do look closely at the various workers when I go to the doctor's office or the hospital though, to make sure no one is giggling at me.
