@readytobethin---u look amazing! how did u do it? i am 1 month post op rt now. what are ur secrets????

Sent from my iPhone

Well thank you so much!!! Well I am about 4 1/2 months out now. I am still only able to eat 2 ounces at a time, so I am so grateful for that. I have read where so many people can eat more than that at this point, so I am really praying that it will continue on this way for a lot longer...although I am expecting it to change any day now. Basically I am following a low carb diet. I focus on getting 80 grams of Protein a day. Because I can still only eat 2 ounces at a time, its impossible for me to get my Protein in from food alone. I add Isopure unflavored protein mix to my drinks. I do 1/2 of a scoop two times a day, because adding a full scoop is just to much for me (its not truly completely unflavored, so doing it this way allows it to be drinkable.) And sometimes I drink a Premier Protein either instead of, or in addition to the Isopure, for a change of scenery, and I will usually eat an Oh Yeah Protein Bar also (the cinnamon roll flavor is so good). Doing these things every day puts me close to my protein goal, even without food. I also walk 2 times a day, for about 20-25 minutes each. As far as my diet, I try not to go over more than 20 carbs a day. I hope that helps, but please let me know if I can help any further. Best of luck in everything you do, and thanks again for the compliment!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
